Premiership teams had a decent result in the Champions League

Chelsea and Liverpool were just able to manage draw while Manchester and Arsenal were able to come up with all three points in their first Champions League match this season.

United recorded their 100th win in Europe with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Sporting Lisbon, courtesy of Cristiano Ronaldo's winner against his former club.Arsenal continued their fine start to the season with a 3-0 win over UEFA cup champions Sevilla. The home side broke the deadlock on 28 minutes when the unfortunate Sevilla defender Julien Escude deflected Cecs Fabregas' shot into his own net. Arsenal grabbed a second just before the hour mark when Robin van Persie found the net from close-range. Substitute Eduardo Da Silva added a third in the closing seconds to seal a good night's work for Arsene Wenger's army.

In other matches played yesterday Chelsea and Rosenberg managed to play a 1-1 draw.Rosenborg scored in the 24th minute, when Miika Koppinen was the man on the spot to poke in at the near post from set piece. In the second half Chelsea improved as the much-maligned Andrei Shevchenko nipped in score a headed leveller. In other match between Porto and Liverpool, Porto took the lead when hesitancy between defender Hyypia and Pepe Reina allowed Tarik Sektioui to nip in, before being upended in the box by Reina.Lucho Gonzalez coolly finished to take lead for the Portuguese team but Kuyt nodded home from close range Hyypia's header back across goal to settle for a tie. In the same match Pennant was red carded.
