Coventry city brought a major surprise by sending a Manchester United crashing out of the League Cup at Old Trafford. Coventry won the match 2-0 against a weaker United team. Michael Mifsud was scorer of both the goals in Coventry's victory.
In other match Chelsea cruished past Hull city 4-0. The goals were provided by Scot Sinclair, Steve Sidwell and two from Salomon Kalou. Newly appointed manager Avram Grant must be taking a relief breath as his team manged first victory under his regime.
Another upset came in the match between Leichester and Aston Villa which the Leichester city won by a solitary goal. Blackburn, Bolton, Everton, Tottenham and WestHam moved to next round of the tournament.
